This unpaid internship is intended to result in academic credits earned towards a degree through a partnership with the applicant's college or university. Applicants should speak with their academic advisor about the process for registering for an internship through their college or university. The college or university does not need to be located in the North Country; applicants may be visiting the North Country, home for the summer. Internship hours can be flexible enough to be worked in around a job schedule.
Duties for this internship focus on the clerical aspects of marketing and publicity for a range of public arts and culture programming. Depending on the abilities of the applicant, duties may also include social media management, event planning, journalism, and/or artwork installation.
Successful applicants will: be comfortable using computers for a wide range of tasks and writing for a public audience, communicate clearly in person and through email, and demonstrate consistently professional conduct in on-line interactions including utilizing social media etiquette. Patience with staring at a computer screen performing repetitive actions is recommended.
SLC Arts is a nonprofit organization which connects community members and arts organizers with local, contemporary artists and fosters community partnerships to serve underserved populations. SLC Arts in located in Potsdam, NY and primarily serves St. Lawrence County in New York State, offering exhibits, classes, publications, rentable workspace, and organizing community festivals and cultural events.
