SLC Arts is a small (2.7 "full-time equivalent" staff) non-profit organization based in Potsdam, NY serving St. Lawrence County by connecting local artists and community members. SLC Arts is currently seeking a full-time Program Coordinator for 40 hours a week at $12/hour. Annual benefits include 40 hours of Paid Time Off (following 6 month review), and 6 paid holidays. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Work schedule for this position includes an average of 1 evening event per month and 1 weekend event per quarter. Other weekly work hours can be flexibly scheduled based on the needs of the candidate.

Experience with relevant job duties is more important than completion of a degree. The hiring process includes one employment test followed by an interview. The hiring process will be complete by the end of June.

Responsibilities:

This position is approximately 80% clerical and 20% event planning & community outreach. While the Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning, marketing, and implementing community classes, exhibits, and events, other responsibilities will include general office duties, such as answering phones, email, and purchasing office supplies. Intraoffice communication is an important part of working effectively as part of this small, close-knit team.

Things you should know about our work environment:

  • Strong computer skills are very important to the work we do. On a daily basis, our employees use Facebook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, DonorSnap, WordPress, submittable.com, and QuickBooks. While hands-on training is provided for each of these systems, social media savvy and computer proficiency are prerequisites.
  • We are a small, close-knit team and everyone is expected to pitch in. This means that sometimes the Director sweeps the Dance Studio floor after an event, the Graphic Designer picks up the office supply order, the Program Coordinator sets up chairs for a meeting, and so on.
  • How you behave in the community reflects on the organization as a whole. The strong relationship we have with individuals and organizations in our community is our greatest asset, and as an employee your image impacts our image.
  • We have a sense of humor. It's how we stay sane in a fast-paced office while multi-tasking and trying to meet deadlines.

These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
