Creative Spirit Volunteer Store Associate
Up to 30 hours available weekly
This unpaid volunteer position is available to anyone interested in serving their community, spending time engaged in the arts, or looking to gain experience in a retail setting. Volunteer hours are on-site but can be flexible enough to be worked around a job or class schedule. Availability for 4-6 hour time blocks is preferred. Internship credit may be available to eligible students upon advance request.
Description: The Creative Spirit Volunteer Store Associate will assist the SLC Arts staff with tasks revolving around the store and programs. Our volunteers are an essential component of running daily operations and allow staff to continue applying focus on our organizational growth and development. Projects and duties may include:
- Store: enter new inventory into Shopify Point of Sale (POS) system, accurately barcode artwork, greet customers and handle sales, maintain general store cleanliness, and answering the phone
- Display: arrange store and window displays, switch displays monthly to have a fresh store appearance, and prepare space for new inventory arrivals
- Programs: assist in preparation and clean up for community programs
- Marketing: distribute marketing materials and fliers around town, update chalk sign
Successful applicants will be comfortable using an iPad, handling cash and card transactions, communicating clearly in person and on the phone, and demonstrate a professional and welcoming attitude. Retail experience is not required, and ample training will be available.
